Mermaid I

After many years of working with different boats, we knew exactly what was needed to create the perfect diving vessel. In 1999 construction of the MV Mermaid I began in Bangkok, where she was built by an experienced and highly professional team and completed after two years. The immense effort finally paid off and this vessel became the flagship of our fleet complete with IMO certification.

The luxurious MV Mermaid I offers all amenities you can dream of. All 8 cabins are fully air-conditioned and equipped with TV & DVD player, single, twin or double bed, a large wardrobe, plenty of storage room and an en-suite bath room with hot water shower, toilet and sink. We also provide fresh bath towels daily, beach towels, bathrobes, hair-dryers, towels, soap and shampoo for your comfort.

Mermaid II

The MV Mermaid II was built and started her duty in the year 2000. She has been constantly improved and after five years of cruising experience, we can proudly say that she is possibly the best in her class - one of the most comfortable and diver friendly liveaboards in Thailand.

Our 8 double a/c cabins offer all the comforts you need. Deluxe cabins offer a large panoramic window. All cabins offer private en-suites with hot water showers and sink, camera-charging outlet, storage space, wardrobe and life jackets.

Thailand

Thailand scuba diving offers diverse undersea experiences along with an unbelievable amount of top dive sites. The two best diving destinations are the Similan Islands including Richelieu Rock and the southern islands of Hin Daeng, Hin Muang & Phi-Phi Islands. Stunning under water scenery, beautiful soft corals and the rich marine life earned these destinations a great reputation. Update: We currently have an Videographer named Jez Tryner on board Mermaid II for most Similans and Hin Daeng trips, check out his website. Jez is available to make a personalised dvd of your diving experience on Mermaid II.

Update: For all Thailand & Burma customers we now have a first night buffet at the beautiful Royal Phawadee Village (www.RPV.name) instead of onboard. All pick-up times and details remain the same.

Burma

In Burma, about 300 km north-west of Phuket lie the relatively unexplored Mergui Archipelago and the Burma Banks, a group of underwater mountains rising from depths of over 300 meters to just below the surface. The thrill of close encounters with silver tip & nurse sharks as well as large schools of pelagic fish have made these great dive sites celebrated world-wide.

Indonesia

From June to October each year we cruise Indonesia operating diving trips between Bali and Komodo. This area features some of the finest dive sites Asia has to offer. One of the highlights is walking with Dragons at the World Heritage Komodo National Park.

Phuket Liveaboards

Phuket has been a center for liveaboard scuba diving since the late 1970’s, and standards have been constantly improving, especially in the last few years. Phuket can now boast liveaboard vessels that match the quality of any in the world, taking customers in comfort to some of the best diving areas in Asia.

On all our boats we also offer PADI scuba diving courses beyond entry level training, such as Advanced Open Water courses, Rescue courses, Dive master courses and various Specialty courses. Our crew and dive guides are highly experienced and are part of a team that aims to give you a great scuba diving experience.

Mermaid Cruise Ltd. operates out of Phuket, Thailand. The Mermaid liveaboard fleet makes departures out of Phuket, Thailand and Bali, Indonesia. We operate on a regular schedule, but we are also available for charter trips, if interested please contact us.

20 Mobula Rays in Burma!

OK, to be perfectly honest, we only counted 19, but I’m sure there was another one or two in the back that we didn’t see... Anyway, despite all the sharks, frogfish, seahorses and ghost pipefish, I think what will stay with us most from this trip, is this school of Mobula Rays we were lucky enough to come across at Tower Rock, way up north in the Mergui Archipelago!
