But really, this was "The Trip Of The Leopard Sharks". We saw them everywhere! It’s got to be mating season, which should explain some of the suspicious behaviour from certain animals (we are talking sharks here, nothing else...).
Now back to the little devils: we had a fantastic dive at Tower Rock, with lots of these rays. A few times a big school of 35 flew by, but we had several of them around us pretty much the entire dive. Awesome!
At Black Rock we were surrounded by fish; Batfish, Rainbow Runners, Milkfish and probably around 2000 Jacks. Looking down, on occasion, revealed a parade of nudibranchs, including Tambja Arika, Tambja Affini and Tambja Morosa.
As usual in Burma, we saw lots of Frogfish. Topping the list this time was a gorgeous, orange Giant one, posing in a Gorgonian Fan at North East Little Torres.
Western Rocky, in the south of the Mergui archipelago, was at its best: Sharks, Rays, Frogfish, Nudibranchs, Seahorses and even a Manta Ray.
Heading back to Thailand, we spent a whole day at Richelieu Rock, the most famous divesite in Thai waters. Harlequin Shrimps, Ghost Pipefish, Barracudas, Tigertail Seahorses were just a few of the things we enjoyed here. Crystal clear water too!
Two more day’s diving in the beautiful Similan Island, rounded off this very pleasant safari.
