Seeing an Eagle Ray these days is a rare event. Given they are very shy animals, having 12 (twelve!) of them in formation flight is the stuff dreams are made of. Except that this was for real!
Black Rock, an outcrop in the middle of nowhere (or, rather, northern Mergui), delivered yet another time, and left all of us in awe. Grey Reef Sharks and big Marble Rays added to our experience here.
More action at Fanforest Pinnacle. This time four Manta Rays performed, and we all came up with sore necks from watching all the looping, barrel-rolling and surface-rocketing from these fantastic animals.
Steaming south to Western Rocky, we could enjoy the company of two very friendly and curious Leopard Sharks. Marble Rays, Whitetip Reef Sharks, a Turtle and a Manta Ray were some of the other logbook entries from this place.
Oh, and we shouldn’t forget to mention the HUGE Nurseshark we found, sleeping, in one of the caves at Three Islets.
A couple of relaxing dives in the beautiful Similans, and it was, unfortunately, time for us to head back to Phuket.
